Poland - Factors to Watch April 24

WARSAW, April 24 - The following are news stories, press
reports and events that may affect Poland's financial markets on

    DATA
    Poland's statistics office to publish unemployment data at
0800.
    
    JUSTICE
    On Thursday, parliament will begin work on a bill that would
declare invalid the judgments of the Constitutional Tribunal
issued with the participation of so-called double judges and
constitutionalists fear it may have unfavorable consequences for
citizens, Gazeta Wyborcza daily reported.
    
    EU DEFENCE
    Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski said that, in the context
of the war in Ukraine, Europeans expect deeper European Union
(EU) integration also regarding defence policy, because they are
afraid of both the Russian president and the results of the U.S.
elections, the newspaper reported.
    
    KOREAN ARMS
    On Wednesday, Poland could sign an agreement with South
Korea for the purchase of 72 K239 Chunmoo rocket artillery sets
for more than 6 billion zlotys ($1.49 billion) and the Polish
industry benefitting from the deal, Dziennik Gazeta Prawna daily
reported.
    
    BANKS
    mBank  MBK.WA  chief executive Cezary Stypułkowski said that
that the Polish banking sector is not attractive to foreign
investors for reasons including the introduction of the banking
tax, the Swiss franc mortgage problem, the pandemic, war and
mortgage holidays, Rzeczpospolita daily reported.
    
    GRUPA AZOTY
    The new chief executive of Grupa Azoty  ATTP.WA  said that a
final agreement between the Polish chemicals group and banks can
be expected in May or June and that management, which has to
present a proposal to repair the group's finances by then, is
not ruling out any options, including recapitalization, Puls
Biznesu daily reported.
    
    EV CHARGING
    Orlen VC, the venture capital arm of refiner Orlen  PKN.WA 
invested 5 million euros ($5.35 million) in Euroloop, a
manufacturer of ultra-fast charging stations for electric cars,
Rzeczpospolita daily reported.
