WARSAW, Feb 5 (Reuters) - The following are news

INTEREST RATES
On Wednesday, the Polish Monetary Policy Council (MPC) will
announce its decision on interest rates and economists expect
them to remain unchanged, including the main rate at 5.75%.
POLISH ASTRONAUT
On Wednesday, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Minister
of Development and Technology Krzysztof Paszyk will meet with
the crew of the Ax-4 mission to the International Space Station.
Slawosz Uznanski-Wisniewski is among the astronauts who will
go into orbit in the spring of 2025. He will be the second Pole
in space and the first on the International Space Station.
ANALYST MACRO FORECASTS
Polish inflation seen rising to 5.3% in February, levels not
seen for a year, hawkish rhetoric from the Monetary Policy
Council (MPC) should support the zloty, Rzeczpospolita daily
reported citing analysts.
ENEA ENAE.WA
The head of the management board of the Polish energy
company Enea, Grzegorz Kinelski, said that the group's strategy
until 2035 assumes that most of the coal-fired units will
operate after 2030, but a support mechanism is needed for them,
Rzeczpospolita daily reported.
SANTANDER BANK POLSKA SPL1.WA
In the fourth quarter of 2024, Polish lender Santander Bank
Polska net profit amounted to 913.4 million zlotys ($225.51
million) and was higher than the 830 million zlotys ($204.92
million) estimated by analysts, the bank reported in its
financial report on Wednesday.
