Danske Commodities signs optimisation deal for British battery project Sept 23 (Reuters) - Danish energy trader Danske Commodities said on Wednesday it had signed a long-term optimisation agreement for Hunterston BESS, one of the biggest battery projects in the UK.
Danske Commodities, chosen as one of the partners for Hunterston BESS, will provide trading and optimisation services, the company said.
"Danske Commodities will utilise its fully automated algorithmic setup to maximise returns across wholesale and ancillary services markets," it said.
Hunterston BESS will have a capacity of 400 megawatts (MW) or 800 megawatt-hours (MWh) once operational.
"The UK is a core market for us, and we look forward to further expanding our portfolio of flexible assets," Danske Commodities CEO Jakob Sorensen said.
Danske Commodities, owned by Norwegian oil and gas producer Equinor EQNR.OL, currently manages a contract portfolio of 17 gigawatts (GW) of renewables and flexible assets across Europe.
