Oct 23 (Reuters) - French satellite operator Eutelsat ETL.PA expects, as a key customer, to see the benefits of synergies created from the space merger between Airbus, Thales and Leonardo LDOF.MI, it said on Thursday.
Europe's biggest aerospace groups announced earlier on Thursday a preliminary deal to create a joint venture for satellite manufacturing and services. The agreement is subject to regulatory approvals.
"We are supportive of any change that will improve the competitiveness of the European supply chain, and this deal has clearly the potential to do so," a Eutelsat spokesperson told Reuters in an emailed statement.
Eutelsat buys satellites from both Airbus AIR.PA and Thales TCFP.PA. It has ordered 100 new satellites from Airbus and plans to add 340 more by 2029 to replenish and expand its OneWeb constellation.
