everplay group plc
("everplay" or the "Group")
Trading Update and Acquisitions of IP and Publishing Rights
everplay group plc, a leading global independent ("indie") games developer and
publisher of premium video games, working simulation games and children's
edutainment apps provides the following trading update for H1 2025.
Trading Update
The Group has traded strongly across H1 2025, with new game releases
performing positively. The recently launched Date Everything! has been
particularly well received, with excellent sales, concurrent users and review
scores to date. Sworn and Nice Day for Fishing have also delivered encouraging
starts since launch.
As a result of the Group's performance in H1 2025, the continued robust
performance from the back catalogue and positive momentum going into H2, the
Board now expects full year results to be slightly ahead of current market
expectations. As in previous years, adjusted EBITDA is expected to be H2
weighted, due to the timing of new game releases.
The Group expects to announce its interim results in early September.
Acquisitions of IP and publishing rights
The Board is pleased to announce that the Group has completed the acquisition
of all rights and assets for Hammerwatch, an action-adventure franchise
consisting of four existing titles, by Swedish studio Crackshell. The
Hammerwatch acquisition supports the Group's strategy to expand its
first-party IP footprint and evergreen franchises. Following the integration
of Hammerwatch within the Team17 division, the team will seek to optimise the
lifecycle management of the existing games, while exploring commercial
opportunities and sequels to drive the long term creativity, growth and value
of the franchise. The Board is delighted to welcome Niklas Myrberg, Crackshell
co-founder, who will personally oversee the Hammerwatch franchise within the
first-party creative team at Team17.
The Group's previously communicated focus on acquiring exclusive publishing
rights of previously released third-party games is gaining traction. This new
revenue stream allows the Group to further strengthen its back catalogue while
leveraging everplay's best-in-class life cycle management skills. Today the
Board is delighted to share the first two games that have joined the Group's
portfolio, across multiple platforms: Settlement Survival and Operation Tango.
Total initial cash consideration for the Hammerwatch IP acquisition and the
acquisitions of publishing rights of Settlement Survival and Operation Tango
is less than £8.0 million in aggregate. These transactions reflect the
Group's ambition to accelerate the company's continued long-term growth. It
also demonstrates everplay's commitment to disciplined capital deployment on
assets which provide predictable ROIs, while further mitigating the risks of
future new games.
