    POLITICS
    Italy has scaled back its anti-inflation plans after
producers refused to submit to a deal with supermarket chains to
control prices of consumer staples, three people familiar with
the talks said on Thursday.
    The city of Milan will resume registering children born
abroad from male couples, its mayor said on Thursday, after
challenging curbs imposed by the right-wing national government.
    
    ECONOMY
    ISTAT releases June industrial output data (0800 GMT) and
monthly bulletin on the state of the economy in July (0900 GMT).
    OECD releases July composite leading indicator data (1000).

    LISTING RULES
    Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni's party wants to allow
listed companies to issue shares giving key investors up to 10
voting rights each, as part of efforts to stem relocations of
corporate headquarters to the Netherlands.
    
    BANKS
    The party of Italy's Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni on
Thursday proposed a levy on banks to curb variable mortgage
costs, saying the increases in interest rates are especially
weighing on those already struggling to pay back their loans.
    
    SALVATORE FERRAGAMO  SFER.MI 
    Sales at the Italian luxury goods group declined by 7.2% at
constant currencies in the first half, hit by double-digit drops
in both North America and Asia Pacific, the company said on
Thursday.
    Chief Executive Marco Gobbetti added that sales in China
were slowing down in the last few weeks compared with the same
period last year.

    The Italian energy services group on Thursday said it was
awarded two contracts, in Romania and Germany, for a total value
of around 1.8 billion euros.
    
    PIRELLI  PIRC.MI  
    The tyre maker said on Thursday that it had renewed an
advance agreement with Italy's Tax Authority to continue to
benefit from the tax breaks of the preferential taxation scheme
called "Patent Box", excluding trademarks, with reference to
2020-2024.
    It added that the estimated tax benefit for the 3-year
period running from 2020 to 2022 stood at about 40 million
euros.
