    POLITICS
    The leader of Italy's centrist Azione party said on Sunday
it would leave a centre-left election alliance it formed with
the Democratic Party (PD) last week, dealing a blow to the
coalition's odds ahead of a Sept. 25 ballot. The Green leftist
federation and centrist party Impegno Civico had only on

    Italy's far-right leader Giorgia Meloni told U.S. network
Fox Business it would be a "great honour" if she were the first
woman to lead the country, with her Brothers of Italy party

    DEBT 
    Global ratings agency Moody's on Friday cut Italy's outlook
to "negative" from "stable", weeks after Prime Minister Mario
Draghi's resignation shook the country's political landscape.

    COMPANIES

    The Italian energy group said on Friday it had acquired the
owner of the Tango FLNG floating liquefaction facility from
Belgian shipowner Exmar  EXMR.BR  to produce and export
liquefied natural gas from the Republic of Congo.  L8N2ZH5OO 
    
    TELECOM ITALIA (TIM)  TLIT.MI 
    The creation of a single network through the merger of TIM's
network assets with those of smaller rival Open Fiber is still
the best opportunity for Italy's biggest telecoms company, but
the group also has a plan B in the form of a "separated network
with a financial partner," Chief Executive Pietro Labriola told
Il Corriere della Sera in an interview published on Sunday.
    The far-right Brothers of Italy party, leading polls ahead
of next month's election, is calling for state lender Cassa
Depositi e Prestiti (CDP) to take control of the former phone

    Consolidation in the sector is on hold, probably until at
least the end of the year, due the current situation in Italy
and internationally, CEO Giuseppe Castagna told Corriere della
Sera in an interview on Saturday, but it will inevitably resume
once uncertainty dissipates.

    The luxury shoemaker said on Friday its board had kicked off
the process to select advisers that will provide an opinion on
the takeover offer the top shareholder Italy's Della Valle
