Corrected: Michael Burry joins Minerva Investment Management as senior adviser for new short-focused fund

CORRECTED-Michael Burry joins Minerva Investment Management as senior adviser for new short-focused fund

Clarifies paragraph five and six to say Unicus only provides short-selling research and does not trade public markets

- Michael J. Burry, famed for predicting the 2008 housing bubble and now a vocal AI skeptic, will be joining as a senior adviser at Minerva Investment Management to help launch a short-biased fund.

Burry will be working with Lakshmi Ganapathi, founder and CEO of Unicus, which is a part of Minerva, he said in a post on X.com late on Tuesday. The move was first announced on the social media platform a week ago by Unicus.

Burry rose to prominence by shorting the housing boom that crashed in 2008, and his latest criticism targets AI hyperscalers and chip companies for stretching out depreciation schedules to smooth their earnings. He holds bearish positions on Nvidia NVDA.O and Palantir Technologies PLTR.O.

Burry closed his hedge fund, Scion Asset Management, in late 2025, and now shares his investment ideas through a paid Substack newsletter focused on financial markets under the pseudonym "Cassandra Unchained".

Unicus provides short-selling research ideas and said some of its top bearish recommendations were on electric vehicle maker Faraday Futures FFAI.O and used-car retailer Carvana CVNA.O, according to a note on its website.

It has also been bearish on stocks such as cloud company Snowflake SNOW.N, drug maker Moderna MRNA.O and retail-focused brokerage Robinhood HOOD.O.

Unicus said its new fund is expected to launch within a month, according to a post on X.com. Unicus did not respond to a Reuters request for comment outside office working hours.
