Fastenal misses quarterly profit estimates amid weak industrial activity

Oct 13 (Reuters) - Industrial supplies distributor Fastenal FAST.O missed Wall Street estimates for third-quarter profit on Monday, as sluggish U.S. industrial activity weighed on demand, sending its shares down 4% in premarket trading.

Amid economic uncertainty and volatile global trade policies, many businesses have curbed investment in equipment and other industrial supplies.

Fastenal posted a profit per share of 29 cents for the quarter through September, compared with 30 cents expected by analysts, according to data compiled by LSEG.

"Market conditions remained sluggish providing minimal contribution," Fastenal said in its earnings presentation.

Revenue for the quarter rose 11.7% to about $2.13 billion, roughly in line with Street expectations.
