POLITICS
Israel must halt the expansion of settlements in the West Bank and curb growing settler violence, Britain, Italy, France, Germany, Canada, Australia and New Zealand said on Friday, accusing the Israeli government of aggravating tensions in the West Bank.
ECONOMY
Italy extended to June 6, from May 22, a temporary cut on excise duty on fuels, as part of efforts to help families and firms cope with high energy costs.
The government said on Friday it would keep a 0.05 euro-per-litre cut on petrol duties, while the reduction for diesel would be halved to 0.1 euros.
Rome also boosted support for the road haulage sector, adding 200 million euros in funding to an existing tax credit scheme, on top of 100 million euros that had already been allocated. Following the announcement, truckers put on hold a planned strike scheduled for next week.
DEBT
Italy's Treasury said on Friday it would issue 7.5 billion euros in 6-month bills at a May 27 auction.

CVC Capital Partners CVC.AS and Groupe Bruxelles Lambert (GBL) GBLB.BR, who launched a 10.7-billion-euro cash bid on Recordati, said on Friday they had bought 1.82% and 2.86% respectively in the Italian pharma group at a weighted average price of 51.29 euros per share.

Italian state lender CDP said on Monday it plans to raise its stake in the payments group to up to 29.9% from its current 19.14%, through its unit CDP Equity. The unit has no plans to launch a takeover bid, CDP said in a statement, adding that it had signed off on derivative contracts for up to 8% of Nexi.

After flagging heavy losses last week, the yacht group is considering, among various options, selling its Perini yard in La Spezia, a settlement with tax authorities, and renegotiating cost overruns with customers, Il Giornale daily reported on Monday, citing local newspaper Tirreno.

Turkey's state energy company BOTAS said on Friday that it has signed a memorandum of understanding with the energy company to expolre potential opportunities for cooperation in the fields of natural gas and LNG.

Italy's gas grid operator has received 40 expressions of interest for the sale of its biomethane unit Bioenerys and "a little less than half (are) non-binding offers, much more than what we expected," Chief Executive Agostino Scornajenchi told Radiocor news agency on Friday.

The European broadcaster on Friday said it would seek the annulment of the proceedings of a Madrid court which decided that it must pay ITV 74 million euros for irregularly using the Pasapalabra TV format between 2012 and 2019. MFE said the ruling did not take into account a separate recent ruling by the Spanish Supreme Court which established that the copyright rights do not belong to ITV.

Juventus missed out on a Champions League spot in their last game of the Serie A season on Sunday as they drew 2-2 in the home derby with Torino.

Italy has approved a 1.34-billion-euro decree to support the automotive supply chain, funding production investments, research and innovation, Industry Minister Adolfo Urso said on Saturday. The plan also includes incentives for sustainable mobility and renewing commercial vehicle fleets, with further funds to be approved from July, Urso added.
IPO/DOLOMITI ENERGIA
The Italian regional utility is expected to go public in 2027 with a free float of around 20%, its CEO, Stefano Granella, told Radiocor news agency on Friday, adding that the IPO could value the company at 3 billion to 4 billion euros.
M&A/ROADS
Italy is soon set to launch the tender for a 50-year concession for the A22 motorway, connecting Modena to Austria, for a value of up to 10 billion euros, Corriere della Sera reported on Saturday. It added that Spanish construction company ACS ACS.MC and Abertis, which it majority-owns, as well as Italy's Gavio and Iberian engineering firm Sacyr are interested in the concession, now managed by various local companies in the northern region of Trentino.
M&A/PENNY MARKET
Germany's Rewe is considering selling its Italian discount supermarket chain Penny Market, Corriere della Sera reported on Sunday, naming Lidl and Aldi as potential buyers.
