ECONOMY
France, Italy, Spain and two other EU countries are pushing for the European Union to revamp trade measures to defend itself more effectively against excessively cheap imports that threaten to destroy EU industries, with Chinese goods implicitly in mind.

Milan-listed shares closed down by more than 8% on Tuesday as investors and critics reacted coolly to the Italian luxury sports car maker's new Luce electric car, questioning whether it remained true to the brand's identity.

The energy group has submitted a proposal to buy steelmaker Acciaierie d'Italia (ADI), formerly known as ILVA, in a consortium with Italy's Arvedi, Il Domani newspaper reported on Wednesday citing sources close to the matter. Eni declined to comment on the report.

Demand for electrified cars kept Europe's auto market growing in April, offsetting weaker petrol and diesel demand and helping Chinese brands extend their market share, data from the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association showed on Wednesday. Stellantis' registrations were up 6.7% in Europe in April, the association said.
The joint venture between the Franco-Italian automaker and China's Leapmotor 9863.H reported a net profit of 44 million euros and a pre-tax profit of 56 million euros in 2025, newspaper MF wrote on Wednesday after seeing the groups' filed financial statements.
TELECOM ITALIA (TIM) TLIT.MI, POSTE ITALIANE PST.MI
Poste's takeover of TIM should be completed by the third quarter of the current financial year, the top management of Poste said on Tuesday as they met TIM's directors and statutory auditors.

Italian public broadcaster RAI is pushing for EI Towers to extend contracts with broadcasters using its infrastructure before it merges with Rai unit RaiWay to ensure longer-term business stability, three sources told Reuters.
EI Towers is 60% owned by Italian infrastructure fund F2i, with the remainder held by Italy's top commercial broadcaster Mediaset, part of the Berlusconi-controlled MFE-MediaForEurope which is also the tower company's biggest customer.

The regional lender said on Tuesday it would launch a share buyback programme of up to €40 million on June 1.

The first bids for the bank specialising in factoring with the public administration could be filed before the summer, daily MF reported on Wednesday, adding that advisers Mediobanca and Morgan Stanley have begun sounding out the market to identify a potential partner among specialist banks and distressed funds.

The takeover bid on the farming group, launched by its leading shareholders Arum and Dompe Holdings, will start on June 8 and end on July 3, the two companies said in a statement on Tuesday.
(*) THE ITALIAN SEA GROUP TISG.MI After flagging heavy losses, on top of contract renegotiations and debt rescheduling, the yacht maker plans to sell its ex‑Picchiotti shipyard in the town of La Spezia, used for refitting Perini sailing yachts, while excluding the disposal of its carpentry unit Celi, which it bought in 2023, Il Sole 24 Ore reported on Wednesday. Peer Baglietto, headquartered in La Spezia, could be interested in acquiring the shipyard, the report added.

The ailing fashion group, which owns the Alberta Ferretti, Moschino and Pollini brands, said on Tuesday it had filed an application with a court in the city of Bologna seeking authorization to obtain a priority financing as part of the negotiated crisis resolution, to cover the company's liquidity needs.

Tod's Chief Executive John Galantic has left the Italian luxury group after less than two years in the post for personal reasons, a spokesperson told Reuters, confirming a report on Tuesday by Bloomberg.

The Turin-based club will have to sell one more player than initially planned, chief Executive Damien Comolli told daily la Repubblica in an interview published on Wednesday, adding "every player sold will be replaced by one of equal level, if not higher.” Comolli said the bianconeri would not sell player Kenan Yildiz and would want to keep Dusan Vlahovic.
