May 5 (Reuters) - The following factors could affect Italian markets on Tuesday.

ECONOMY

Italy called for the introduction at EU level of a windfall tax affecting energy firms, Economy Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti said on Monday, while also reiterating his appeal for more lenient EU budget rules.

Italy and Azerbaijan aim to strengthen their partnership on gas and oil supplies, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said on Monday, after meeting Azeri President Ilham Aliyev in Baku.

Italy posted a state sector budget deficit of 16.5 billion euros in April compared to a shortfall of 20.7 billion euros in the same month last year, the Treasury said in a statement on Monday.

The Italian lender posted record-high quarterly profit that beat expectations on Tuesday, and improved its outlook for the year, as it kicked off a takeover offer for Commerzbank CBKG.DE in defiance of strong German opposition. Unicredit did not expect to gain control of Commerzbank with its bid, CEO Andrea Orcel said in interview with CNBC on Tuesday. Conference call on results at 0800 GMT.

The Italian lender does not plan to increase its stake in Generali above 10%, UniCredit CEO Andrea Orcel said in an interview with Class CNBC on Tuesday.

According to Il Sole 24 Ore daily, UniCredit had informal contacts with Italy's insurance supervisory authority IVASS to pave the way for possible approval to raise its stake in Generali above 10%. UniCredit said that no authorisation request had so far been submitted to IVASS, the daily added.

Four non-binding bids for Bioenerys, Snam's biomethane unit, are expected on May 6, Corriere della Sera daily reported on Tuesday. Italian energy group A2A A2.MI, Verdalia - a European biomethane platform backed by Goldman Sachs Infrastructure Partners -,  Retina Holding  - a biomethane platform company owned by Actarus Renewables and Biomethane Asset Holdings - and the fund Vesper Infrastructure Partners are interested in the assets, it said. Bioenerys operates through two divisions, which Snam could sell separately, Corriere added. Rothschild and BNP Paribas are the advisers.

Alberto Zanatta, chairman and largest shareholder of Italian sports footwear and winter‑sports equipment Tecnica Group, is considering strengthening his control of the company, in which he holds a 60% stake, and facilitating Italmobiliare's exit from the capital, La Repubblica daily reported on Tuesday.

Pesenti family holding Italmobiliare owns the remaining 40%.  Zanatta would be ready to buy a 10% stake directly from Italmobiliare, while the remaining 30% could be divested either through an initial public offering or bringing in a new minority investor, the newspaper said.

The Italian debt recovery firm said on Tuesday it had completed its first sale of re-performing loans (RPL) in Greece to specialised institutional credit investors with a gross book value of about 230 million euros.

The Italian energy group is in the process of selling its 5% interest in the Renaissance joint venture in Nigeria, the Italian energy group said, adding the name of the prospective buyer and the value of the deal were confidential.

Eni restarted lifting Venezuelan crude oil in April as payment-in-kind for gas produced in the country, the Italian energy group said on Monday, adding the move would allow it to recover longstanding receivables from Caracas.

The lender said on Monday that Chairman Cesare Bisoni had declared Carlo Vivaldi to have forfeited his office as director because he simultaneously serves as a director of Banca Mediolanum BMED.MI.

STELLANTIS STLAM.MI

The Franco-Italian carmaker outperformed the Italian market in April, with sales up 14.4%, according to Reuters calculations based on data released by the Transport Ministry.

STMICROELECTRONICS STMMI.MI

The Franco-Italian chipmaker is targeting well above $3 billion in cumulative revenue for its semiconductor space business from 2026 to 2028, it said on Monday, helped by surging demand for chips used in low-Earth orbit satellite networks.

Lazio won 2-1 away at Cremonese in the late match of the 35th round of the Serie A season.

M&A, CATANIA AIRPORT OPERATOR SAC

SAC, the operator of Sicily's Catania airport, said on Monday it had launched a process to sell a stake of at least 51% in the company. Bidders must submit their preliminary offers by June 3.
