Oct 1 (Reuters) - Zeiss Vision Care is acquiring a 10% stake in Ocumeda AG from German eyewear maker Fielmann Group FIEG.DE for 10 million euros ($11.74 million), the companies said on Wednesday.
The definitive agreement sees Zeiss Vision Care set to acquire up to a 25% stake, the joint statement said.
Together, the two eye care technology companies want to scale Ocumeda within Europe, a tele-ophthalmology platform that connects patients and optical retailers with ophthalmologists.
The business is valued at 100 million euros.
"We are excited to welcome Zeiss Vision Care as a strategic
investor in Ocumeda," Fielmann's chief executive Marc Fielmann said. "Together, we look forward to expanding Europe's leading tele-ophthalmology platform."
