Italy reported 24 coronavirus-related deaths on Sunday,
against 39 the day before, the health ministry said, while the
daily tally of new infections fell to 3,725 from 3,908.

Ratings agency S&P Global on Friday raised Italy's outlook
to "positive" from "stable", saying the government's commitment

Treasury announces sale of BTP and CCTeu bonds, with
relative amounts to be auctioned on Oct. 28.
Treasury said on Friday it would offer 6 billion euros in

Italy on Sunday ended talks with UniCredit over the sale of
Monte dei Paschi di Siena (MPS) in a major setback to years-long
efforts by the Rome government to return the ailing Tuscan bank
to private hands. Rome will now seek an extension of deadlines
agreed with European Union authorities to re-privatise MPS and a
Treasury official said it did not expect discussions to be
difficult, adding the government will do its part to

The two lenders are among those which could consider a deal
with Monte dei Paschi, should talks for a sale to UniCredit end
for good, daily Il Corriere della Sera said on Sunday. In
particular, a deal with Monte dei Paschi would help Banco BPM to
accelerate its growth as Italy's third-largest bank and to
shield itself from hostile bids, including a potential one from
UniCredit, the report added.

The holding company of Italy's Agnelli family has restarted
talks with French insurer Covea over a possible $9 bln sale of
reinsurer PartnerRE, Il Sole 24 Ore said on Saturday, after the

As of Oct. 22, Leonardo Del Vecchio increased his stake in
the insurer to 5.53% and businessman Francesco Gaetano
Caltagirone raised it to 6.62%. As a result, the consultation
pact between Del Vecchio, Caltagirone and banking foundation
Fondazione CRT holds a total shareholding of 13.38% in the
insurer.

Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway has tendered its stake
in Catholic under a takeover offer by Assicurazioni General, a
source close to the situation said on Friday.
The move brings Italy's top insurer a step closer to

billion euro buyout offer on Cattolica in May to further

the amount of a planned capital increase to up to 460 million
