Nov 25 (Reuters) - Cassava Sciences SAVA.O on Monday
said its experimental Alzheimer's disease drug did not meet the
main or secondary goals in a late-stage study.
The treatment, simufilam, failed to demonstrate a
significant reduction in cognitive or functional decline
compared to a placebo in patients with mild-to-moderate
Alzheimer's disease, the company said.
As a result, Cassava will discontinue a second
late-stage study, as well as its open-label study of the drug.
Cassava shares were halted in premarket hours ahead of
the announcement.
