MILAN, Oct 6 (Reuters) - Alitalia's successor Italia
Trasporto Aereo (ITA) is in talks with state railway group
Ferrovie dello Stato over combined transport projects that could
lead to a single flight and train ticket, the head of the
airline said on Wednesday.
"Talks are underway with Ferrovie's (Chief Executive Luigi)
Ferraris," ITA Executive Chairman Alfredo Altavilla said during
an event in Rome.
He added such plans could help ITA tackle competition from
low-cost carriers.
The new Italian carrier is expected to start flying in place
of bankrupt Alitalia on Oct. 15 after the government last month
received approval from the European Commission to inject 1.35
billion euros ($1.15 billion) into the airline.
