MILAN, May 16 (Reuters) - Italian utility A2A A2.MI
has built the country's largest rooftop solar panel installation
on top of the Milan Fair FNMI.MI exhibition centre, the
company said on Thursday.
The installation, the second largest in Europe after one in
Germany, will have an expected annual production of 21.6 GWh and
consists of 50,000 solar panels covering 330,000 square metres,
a company statement said.
A2A Chief Executive Renato Mazzoncini said the group will
collaborate with Hitachi 6501.T to build another similar
installation in Italy, although with only half the power
generation capacity.
Earlier this month, the utility acquired a majority
shareholding in a solar venture, in a new step towards the
construction of one of the largest photovoltaic plants in
northern Italy.
