Taiwan's FPCC plans to shut crude, secondary units in March (updated)

Updates with further details

SINGAPORE, Dec 10 (Reuters) - Taiwan's Formosa Petrochemical Corp plans to shut one of its crude units and several secondary units at its Mailiao refining site for maintenance in mid-March next year, company spokesperson K.Y. Lin said.

The private refiner will shut its No. 2 crude distillation unit (CDU), one residual desulphurisation unit and one residual catalytic cracker for around 40 days until the second half of April, he added.

FPCC has three CDUs with processing capacity totalling 540,000 barrels per day.

"Our refinery utilisation rate is expected at 84.2% next year," Lin said. That would be higher than the around 82.8% seen this year, as there was less maintenance activity scheduled for the second half of 2026, he added.

Only one of two vacuum distillation units at FPCC's Mailiao site, and one delayed coker unit and base oil unit, will be shut in October-November next year, Lin said.
