** Fortis FTS.TO has sold the dominant electrical utility in the Turks and Caicos Islands to a U.S. private equity fund, exiting an investment made when domestic politicians flirted with making the Caribbean country a Canadian province.

** Private lenders are demanding repayment of more than C$4-million  ($2.90 million) in loans made to iPro Realty and its owners in a court action filed amid allegations that millions went missing from the brokerage's trust accounts.

** The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency is said to be preparing to deport another planeload of Russian asylum seekers back to an uncertain future in their home country, as the Canadian government drags its feet on a request to open its doors to Russian dissidents.
