Wall Street's main indexes slipped in volatile trading on Tuesday, ahead of a
symposium at Jackson Hole later this week and minutes from the Federal Reserve's
meeting last month which could offer clues on a September interest rate cut. .N 
    
    At 11:40 ET, the Dow Jones Industrial Average  .DJI  was down 0.26% at
40,790.67. The S&P 500  .SPX  was down 0.20% at 5,596.99 and the Nasdaq
Composite  .IXIC  was down 0.30% at 17,822.366.
