The main U.S. stock indexes rose on Thursday as weekly jobless claims data
offered fresh evidence of a softening U.S. labor market and renewed hopes that
the Federal Reserve will cut interest rates this year.  .N 
    
    At 11:48 ET, the Dow Jones Industrial Average  .DJI  was up 0.43% at
39,225.96. The S&P 500  .SPX  was up 0.25% at 5,200.89 and the Nasdaq Composite
 .IXIC  was up 0.17% at 16,330.164.
