MEDIA ADVISORY

 

In anticipation of media interest following events in the High Court today,
the Company fully supports Mike Ashley's decision to take legal action over a
highly defamatory article that was published by The Times in July 2020.

 

Times Newspapers Limited has now accepted that any allegations of wrongdoing
by Mr Ashley during previous litigation with Jeffrey Blue are untrue. The
newspaper has apologised to Mr Ashley and agreed to pay substantial damages.

 

Mr Ashley commented: "The false allegations of wrongdoing against me were
unrestrainedly published on the front page of The Times but did not contain a
shred of truth. This was a disgraceful and irresponsible piece of comic
book journalism."
