Appointment of Workforce Director
Further to the announcement on 12 September 2018 that Cally Price has been elected by the workforce as the next Workers' Representative, the Company is pleased to announce that Cally is to join the Board as a Non-Executive Workforce Director with effect from 1 January 2019.
David Daly, Chairman, commented: "On behalf of my fellow Directors I would like to welcome Cally as our first Workforce Director on the Board.  We are very proud to be one of the first companies in the UK to have a director appointed from our workforce.  This appointment is a natural progression for the Board, following the excellent contributions made by Alex Balacki as our first Workers' Representative to the Board. We are now looking forward to working with Cally as both our Workers' Representative and a full Board member."
Cally is a store manager in Cardiff Bay, having originally started with Sports Direct as a zero hours worker in July 2007.  Following a competitive application process, Cally was elected as the Company's next Workers' Representative in September 2018 and (although her Board appointment commences earlier) will assume her role as Workers' Representative when the current Workers' Representative Alex Balacki completes his term on 1 May 2019.
Cally commented: "I am really looking forward to working with the Board to help ensure that the voice of the entire Sports Direct workforce is front and centre of the Board's discussions and decision-making."
The Company confirms that there is no information to disclose under paragraphs 9.6.13 R (1) to (6) of the Listing Rules in respect of Ms Price.
