Fulcrum Therapeutics tanks as muscle disorder drug fails in late-stage study

    ** Shares of Fulcrum Therapeutics  FULC.O  plunge as much as
67.6% to hit over one-year low of $2.87, last down 60.9% at
$3.46
    ** Drug developer says its experimental drug to treat a
genetic muscle disorder failed to meet the main goal in a
late-stage study
    ** Co was testing its oral drug, losmapimod, in 260 patients
with facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy (FSHD) who received
either the therapy or a placebo for 48 weeks
    ** Adds will suspend future losmapimod development
    ** FSHD is a rare genetic muscle disease in which the
muscles of the face, shoulder blades, and upper arms are among
the most affected
    ** Including session's moves, stock has erased YTD gains and
is down ~49%
