** Shares of Israel-based biopharma co  GMDA.O  surge 27.6%
to $3.60 premarket 
    ** Stock among top performers across all U.S. exchanges
    ** Co says the U.S. FDA has granted clearance to start
clinical testing of its experimental cancer therapy, GDA-201,
and also removed clinical hold on use of cryopreserved

    ** GDA-201 is a cell therapy for treatment of patients with
follicular and diffuse large B-cell lymphomas, types of cancer
that forms in white blood cells called lymphocytes
    ** GMDA expects to initiate early-to-mid stage study of

    ** Up to Monday's close, stock rose ~11% this year
