U.S. stocks fell on Friday after President Donald Trump's shock
threat of tariffs on Mexico fueled fears that escalating trade
wars could push the world's largest economy into recession. .N 
    At 12:47 p.m. ET, the Dow Jones Industrial Average  .DJI 
was down 1.02 percent at 24,912.28. The S&P 500  .SPX  was down
1.01 percent at 2,760.58 and the Nasdaq Composite  .IXIC  was
down 1.18 percent at 7,478.27.
