GenSight: Report of visual recovery after optogenetic treatment boosts shares

** Shares in French gene therapy company GenSight Biologics
 SIGHT.PA  are up more than 8%, paring gains of as much as
13.6%, after it announced Nature Medicine case report showing
visual recovery after GS030 optogenetic treatment
    ** The biopharmaceutical company said the journal in its May
issue published the first case report of partial recovery of
visual function in a blind patient with late stage retinitis

    ** GS030 therapy leverages GenSight's optogenetics
technology platform that involves the transfer of a gene
encoding for a light sensitive protein to cause neuronal cells
to respond to light stimulation
    ** At 08:00 GMT the company's shares were traded in heavy
volumes, about 132.9% of their 30-day average
    ** Including today's rise the stock has gained 32% YTD
