WAITING GAME
European shares are ticking higher on Tuesday with little major newsflow to drive markets, and with much of the attention turning to events later in the week.
Nvidia's earnings on Wednesday will be the first major test for the market, as investors seek fresh insight into the demand that has driven the rally in AI stocks.
Later in the week, Fed Chair Kevin Warsh's speech at Jackson Hole has taken on added weight as investors look for guidance on monetary policy and the recent jump in bond yields.
For now, markets are calm, with the STOXX 600 up 0.4%. Breadth is positive, with advancing stocks outnumbering declining stocks by about 2.5 to 1.
Major bourses in London .FTSE, Paris .FCHI and Frankfurt .GDAXI are up between 0.2% and 0.4%.
Corporate news is pretty thin too. Shares in Gerresheimer GXIG.DE are down over 7% after the unexpected departure of its interim CEO.
Britain's Melrose Industries MRON.L tops the STOXX 600 after the company said it was targeting September 28 to resume full production at its Garden Grove facility, after halting production in May due to an overheating chemical tank.
