    ** Apparel maker Gildan Activewear's  GIL.TO  most vocal
dissident investor Browning West rejected the clothing
manufacturer's plan to refresh its board of directors and
claimed the move reflected a failed sales process at one of the
country's largest consumer product companies.
    
    ** The head of the Canadian Medical Association says the
federal government's proposed increases to capital-gains taxes
will pose a significant financial hit to doctors and may push
some out of the profession.
