    ** The board of Gildan Activewear Inc  GIL.TO  is pushing
potential buyers of the clothing manufacturer to make their
initial offers by April 10, as the company looks for
alternatives to an activist investor campaign aimed at replacing
its directors.
    
    **Paris-based Compagnie de Saint-Gobain SA  SGOB.PA 
announced Wednesday it is acquiring Bailey Group of Cos for $880
million for expanding into Canadian market that faces an acute
housing shortage. 

    **Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced on Wednesday that
the federal government will add $15 billion to an existing
low-cost loan program to spur rental apartment construction in
