** Shares of industrial equipment maker GMM Pfaudler Ltd
 GMMP.NS  rise as much as 9.8% to 2,044.40 rupees, their biggest
intra-day pct gain since Sept. 6
    ** Co late on Thursday posted an 87.8% jump in Sept-qtr
consol net profit to 649.8 million rupees ($7.87 million)

    ** Consol rev from ops rose 20.5% to 7.8 bln rupees from
6.47 bln rupees year ago
    ** "Our cost control measures, especially in Europe, have
helped mitigate rising energy costs, however global

    ** More than 602,000 shares traded as of 0703 GMT, 7.2 times
their 30-day moving avg of 83,208 shares
    ** Stock last up 6.4%, taking YTD gains to ~14.9% as of last
close
