POLITICS

Italy's Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said on Sunday it is "positive" a trade dealhas been reached between the European Union and the United States, adding, however, that she needs to see the details.

Italy's Prime Minister said on Saturday that recognising the State of Palestine before it is established could be counterproductive.

DEBT

The Italian Treasury said on Friday it will offer up to 9.00 billion euros ($10.56 billion) in bonds at a July 30 medium- to long-term auction.

It added it had cancelled medium- to long-term auction scheduled for August 13 and the BTPei auction scheduled for August 26 given cash management activity.

COMPANIES

MFE-MEDIAFOREUROPE MFEB.MI

(*) The TV group controlled by Italy's Berlusconi family said on Monday it had improved its offer for German peer ProSiebenSat.1 PSMGn.DE.

MFE raised its offer to 1.3 MFE A shares from an initial 0.4 MFE A shares while leaving the cash component unchanged at 4.48 euros per share, the company said in a statement.

Germany's culture minister invited Italian media magnate Pier Silvio Berlusconi on Saturday to a meeting to discuss his offer to buy TV group ProSiebenSat.1, and said any bid for the German company should protect journalistic independence.

A spokesperson for the Berlusconi family's MFE-MediaForEurope declined to comment.

MEDIOBANCA MDBI.MI, BANCA GENERALI BNG.MI

The Italian merchant bank said on Friday Rome had decided not to use Golden Power regard its bid on Banca Generali.

BPER BANCA EMII.MI, POPOLARE SONDRIO BPSI.MI

BPER secured 80.6% of smaller peer Banca Popolare di Sondrio's shares at the end of its tender offer, a Bourse filing showed on Friday.

BANCO BPM BAMI.MI

Investor Davide Leone had increased his stake in the bank from 5.3% to 8.17% as of July 17, Italy's market watchdog Consob said in a filing on Friday.

MONTE DEI PASCHI BMPS.MI

The Tuscan lender has signed two agreements with trade unions for a company bonus of 1,500 euros, and for improvements to the complementary contract for bank employees, Italian daily Il Messaggero reported on Saturday.

UNICREDIT CRDI.MI

Croatia's largest food producer and retailer, Fortenova Grupa, has agreed a 550 million euro ($645 million) refinancing deal with the Italian bank and Zagrebacka Bank ZBB.ZA, the company said on Friday.

Italian oil major Eni expects profits from its green businesses to rival those from oil and gas within a decade, in a bold bet that contrasts with a retreat from renewables by Shell and BP after lacklustre returns, the FT reported on Mondat.

"By 2035, the [operating profit] created by our new companies will balance what is coming from oil and gas, in 2040 it will be more [than oil and gas]," Chief Executive Claudio Descalzi told the Financial Times.

Aerospace group Thales Alenia Space (TAS) - a joint venture between French aerospace company Thales TCFP.PA and Italy's Leonardo - and Italian Space Agency ASI said on Friday they had signed a contract to develop the first human lunar outpost, an important step in the NASA-led Artemis moon exploration programme.

IVECO IVG.MI, LEONARDO

The Italian truckmaker is in advanced talks to sell its defense unit to Leonardo, Bloomberg News reported on Friday.

TELECOM ITALIA (TIM) TLIT.MI

The Italian phone operator is in talks with Warner Bros. Discovery to include the HBO Max streaming service in its TimVision offering, two sources said on Sunday.

The Italian betting firm is considering overseas M&A deals "but will not rush and will maintain a strict capital allocation discipline," its CEO Guglielmo Angelozzi told Corriere della Sera's weekly publication L'Economia on Monday.

Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni starts her visit to Ethiopia; ends on July 29. On Monday she is expected to co-chair with Ethiopian President Abiy Ahmed Ali the United Nations summit on food safety in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
