China's Chery targeting production in South Africa by end of 2027
JOHANNESBURG, March 31 (Reuters) - Chery Automobile 9973.HK expects to complete its takeover of Nissan's 7201.T Rosslyn manufacturing plant in South Africa by middle of the year and begin production there by the end of 2027, a senior executive at the Chinese automaker told Reuters. "After we take over the plant, we will try to modify the plant at full speed, and we hope that by probably the end of 2027, we're going to start the SOP (start of production)," Charlie Zhang, Executive Vice President of Chery International, said on Tuesday on the sidelines of an investment conference.
