Details
AAM Pilot Plant Developments
GreenRoc is pleased to announce that it has chosen Sepor Inc., to help with
the design and delivery of the purification part of the Company's pilot plant.
Over the past several months, GreenRoc, assisted by its graphite technical
consultants ProGraphite, has worked with Sepor Inc., to develop a novel
system for scaling up the Company's laboratory-based purification test work to
a pilot-scale, with a nominal capacity of ca 1,000kg purified material per
month. GreenRoc has now signed a purchase order for the first and main part of
the purification plant, with expected delivery by the end of July 2026.
By way of further background, one of the key stages in producing graphite AAM
from natural flake graphite concentrate is purification, which is the second
processing step after shaping the graphite flakes into spherical graphite
grains. Graphite concentrate feedstock typically contains 4-6% mineral
impurities inherited from the graphite ore. Such impurities must be removed so
that the AAM contains less than 500ppm impurities. While the conventional
technology to purify graphite using hydrofluoric acid is extremely efficient,
it comes with both environmental costs, high work-hazard risks, high
regulatory burdens and is expensive.
GreenRoc, in conjunction with its graphite technical consultants ProGraphite
GmbH, has been working to develop an alternative purification technique, which
relies on the purification capacity of sodium hydroxide which is an alkali
rather than an acid and less hazardous and more environmentally friendly.
Detailed test work undertaken by ProGraphite over the past couple of years has
been successful in producing purified graphite using sodium hydroxide as the
principal purification agent, with the resulting AAM containing <500ppm
impurities. In addition, other improvements have been made to the purification
techniques which have significantly reduced the operational cost of
purification when compared to the operational costs assumed as the basis for
the independent AAM plant Prefeasibility study ("PFS") published in July 2024.
The mills for the production of spherical graphite, the first processing step
to make AAM, are expected to be delivered to the Company's site in Hørsholm,
Denmark in early March 2026.
Processing of Bulk Sample
As previously announced, in late 2025, GreenRoc, assisted by local contractor
HK Transport, collected an 18.3t bulk sample from underground at Amitsoq. A
300kg representative sample of this is now on its way to SGS Lakefield,
Ontario, Canada for initial crushing, grinding and flotation tests, including
mineralogical studies to investigate graphite liberation, grain size
distribution and recovery.
This test work will build upon a series of earlier beneficiation studies
carried out on Amitsoq graphite ore and will provide important information for
the PFS of the Amitsoq mine which is planned to be initiated by the end of
2026. It will also assist the Company in determining the optimal methodology
to be employed in processing the remainder of the 18t bulk sample, from which
the resulting graphite concentrate in turn will be used as the test material
for the Company's AAM pilot plant.
ECGA Membership
GreenRoc is delighted that its application to become a member of the ECGA has
been accepted and will be formally approved at the ECGA annual general meeting
to be held in April 2026. The ECGA was founded in 1995. It is based in
Brussels and represents EU carbon and graphite producers, including the
EU-based producers of graphite electrode, producers for Europe's steel and
foundry industry, electrodes and cathodes for the aluminium and ferroalloy
industry, as well as a wide variety of specialty graphite and carbon products
for applications ranging from electric motors to modern battery technology.
GreenRoc at PDAC 2026
The annual PDAC conference, which is being held in Toronto on 1-4 March 2026,
is the world's largest mining and mineral exploration conference, bringing
together more than 27,000 representatives from mining, exploration, service
providers, scientists, investors, government officials and regulators.
GreenRoc will be represented at PDAC by Chairman George Frangeskides and CEO
Stefan Bernstein. Events will include the following:
- at the request of the Government of Greenland, on 2 March GreenRoc
will present at the dedicated Greenland Day which is organised by the
Government at PDAC each year;
- also on 2 March, EU Executive Vice-President Stéphane Séjourné will
formally present GreenRoc with a certificate in recognition of Amitsoq's EU
Strategic Project status;
- at the request of the EU Commission, and in recognition of Amitsoq's
status as an EU Strategic Project, GreenRoc will present both at the EU's
dedicated booth at the Convention on Monday 2 March and at the EU Breakfast
event on Tuesday 3 March; and
- on 3 March, meetings will be held at the Danish Consulate at which
GreenRoc's representatives will meet a delegation of the Greenland Government,
including the Minister for Raw Materials, Naaja Nathanielsen, and Minister for
the Environment Peter Borg.
GreenRoc's CEO, Stefan Bernstein, commented:
"This period marks a decisive leap forward for GreenRoc as we are actively
building the AAM pilot plant and thereby the capacity to process the graphite
from Amitsoq. Initiating procurement for our innovative, HF-free AAM pilot
plant purification system and receiving our spherical graphite mills are
concrete steps towards sustainable, high-value production. Crucial testwork on
our Amitsoq bulk sample will soon be underway at SGS Lakefield, de-risking our
process and feeding directly into our planned Pre-Feasibility Study. Our new
ECGA membership and strategic participation at PDAC 2026, where we will
receive our EU Strategic Project Certificate and engage with top EU and
Greenlandic officials, underscore the strong momentum and recognition for
Amitsoq's pivotal role in securing Europe's future supply of graphite - one of
the critical raw materials with the most exposed supply chains."

About GreenRoc
GreenRoc Strategic Materials Plc is an AIM-quoted UK public company focused on
developing the Amitsoq Graphite Project in Greenland into a producing mine to
meet critical demand from Electric Vehicle ('EV') manufacturers in Europe and
North America for new, high grade and conflict-free sources of graphite.
Amitsoq is one of the highest-grade graphite deposits in the world with a
combined Measured, Indicated and Inferred JORC Resource of 23.05 million
tonnes (Mt) at an average grade of 20.41% graphite, sufficient to sustain
several decades of mining. GreenRoc received an Exploitation Licence from the
Government of Greenland on 8 December 2025, valid for 30 years.
The plans for the Amitsoq Project include the construction of a facility to
further process the mined graphite into active anode material - an
indispensable component of Li-batteries - which plans have independently and
positively evaluated to prefeasibility study stage.
GreenRoc has entered into a partnership with the Norwegian battery
manufacturer Morrow Batteries to establish a regional supply chain. The
Amitsoq Project has been designated a Strategic Project by the EU and in March
2025 it was also ESG-certified by Digbee™, an independent platform which
provides sustainability assessments for the mining industry. In October 2025,
GreenRoc signed a binding secured loan facility for EUR 5.2 million from the
Export and Investment Fund of Denmark ("EIFO"), for the financing of the
Company's work programme. In December 2025, GreenRoc, together with its
consortium partners DTU and IPU, has been granted a sum of up to DKK
10,448,826 (ca £1.2m) for its project entitled "EU-Graphite: Building
European production of graphite active anode material" ("EU-Graphite") from
the Energy Technology Development and Demonstration Programme ("EUDP"), a
Danish government funding programme.
