** Shares of British drugmaker GSK GSK.L up 3.4% at 1,533p, the top gainers in FTSE 100 index .FTSE

   ** Emma Walmsley will step down as CEO after nine years at the helm, says co

   ** Chief Commercial Officer Luke Miels to become top boss on January 1

** GSK's shares have fallen nearly 6% since Walmsley took over as CEO. Under her leadership, co demerged consumer healthcare group Haleon HLN.L into a separate listed entity

** As of last close, GSK up 10.4% YTD, while FTSE 100 has climbed 13.6%
