Deals of the day-Mergers and acquisitions

Sept 13 (Reuters) - The following bids, mergers,
acquisitions and disposals were reported by 0930 GMT on
Wednesday:

    ** German logistics billionaire Klaus-Michael Kuehne is
considering a bid for port operator HHLA  HHFGn.DE , German
newspaper FAZ reported after shipping giant MSC announced its
own offer for the company.

    ** MSC, the world's biggest container shipping company, is
offering to buy almost half of the main operator of Hamburg
port, in a deal that could allow city authorities to retain
control of Germany's biggest port in the face of other takeover
interest.

    ** Aviva  AV.L  is quitting its Singlife joint venture,
selling its 25.9% stake in Singapore Life Holdings and two debt
instruments to Sumitomo Life for a combined 800 million pounds
($997 million), the British insurer said.

    ** Irish construction company Kingspan  KSP.I  confirmed
media reports that it had recent, informal discussions about a
tie-up with rival Carlisle Companies  CSL.N , but that there was
currently no active engagement between the companies.
