Greece's Helleniq Energy Q2 adjusted EBITDA doubles on stronger refining margins
Greece's Helleniq Energy Q2 adjusted EBITDA doubles on stronger refining margins Aug 5 (Reuters) - Greek energy company Helleniq Energy HEPr.AT reported on Wednesday a doubling of second-quarter adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) as higher refining margins and the contribution from its power business offset a volatile energy market backdrop.
Adjusted EBITDA rose to €442 million ($510.51 million) in the second quarter from €221 million a year earlier.
Q2 sales jumped 76% year-on-year to €4.29 billion.
Refining, supply and trading adjusted EBITDA climbed 95% to €318 million due to higher refining margins.
Renewables, power and gas adjusted EBITDA rose to €22 million from €11 million a year earlier, helped by the Enerwave consolidation.
Diesel and jet fuel exports rose 35% on the year, primarily directed to European markets facing supply shortages.
Total investments reached €407 million in the first half, with more than €130 million invested in renewable energy projects.
Chief Executive Andreas Shiamishis said in a statement the group maintained uninterrupted fuel supplies through alternative crude sourcing and high refinery availability and utilisation despite disruptions linked to conflicts in Ukraine and the Gulf.
He added that export market conditions remained supportive and were expected to strengthen further in the third quarter.
