Nov 13 (Reuters) - Greece's largest telecoms operator OTE OTEr.AT reported on Thursday a 2% rise in third-quarter adjusted core earnings, driven by growth in mobile and fibre services, despite a decline in profit margins.
Adjusted earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortization rose to 360.1 million euros ($420 million) from 353.1 million euros in the same period a year earlier. However, the EBITDA margin narrowed to 41.2% from 42.4% last year.
Service revenues for its mobile business rose 2.7% in the third quarter, supported by a 6.4% increase in postpaid subscribers from a year earlier. The group also accelerated its fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) rollout, adding 38,000 new customers during the quarter to reach 509,000.
Last week, OTE
signed
binding agreements to acquire TERNA Fiber, the special-purpose vehicle managing four of the seven lots of the Ultra-Fast Broadband (UFBB) Public-Private Partnership project in Greece.
The deal will give OTE control of all UFBB zones, expanding FTTH connectivity to about 480,000 premises in semi-urban and rural areas.
OTE, which is majority-owned by Deutsche Telekom DTEGn.DE, expects adjusted EBITDA growth of about 2% in 2025, alongside planned capital expenditures of 600 million euros, aimed at FTTH and 5G Stand-Alone network deployment. Free cash flow for the period is expected to come in at around 530 million euros.
The group also declared a 40 million euro extraordinary dividend, equivalent to 0.10 euros a share, following the completion of its Romania operations sale.
