** Shares of some car rental firms surge in morning trading

** Avis Budget Group CAR.O and Hertz Global Holdings HTZ.O both up 24%

** U.S. President Donald Trump's plan of 25% tariffs on imported cars and light trucks raised prospects of consumers opting for car rentals instead of buying expensive new cars

** As of last close, CAR down 23.6% and HTZ down 5.7% YTD
