India's HFCL gains on order wins, proposal for license-free use of 6GHz band

** Shares of telecom equipment maker HFCL HFCL.NS rise 3% to 91.1 rupees

** Co secures two orders cumulatively worth 762.1 million rupees ($8.92 million), from an overseas telecommunication company and Indian public sector firm ITI

** Both orders pertain to supply of various types of optical fiber cables

** The export order is to be executed by June while the domestic order is scheduled to be completed by September

** Rise also driven by the government's draft rules to delicense the 6 GHz band to boost usage of low-power and very low-power wireless gear, say two analysts

** The draft notification proposes no licensing requirement for use of wireless equipment in the 5.925 GHz-6.425 GHz band

** HFCL has the highest market share in 6G equipment in India

** HFCL shares are down 21.5% in 2025 so far, compared to a 5.6% drop in small-cap index .NIFSMCP100
