India's metal index climbs on higher global prices; top sectoral gainer

** Nifty metal index .NIFTYMET climbs 2.3% to fresh high; top gainer among 16 major sub-indexes

** Global metal prices rises, with Shanghai copper hitting 16-month high on supply concerns at major mines MET/L

** Heavyweights Tata Steel TISC.NS and JSW Steel JSTL.NS top gainers on index, up 2.2% and 2.1%, respectively

** Hindalco HALC.NS, Vedanta VDAN.NS rise 1% each

** Fourteen of 15-member index trading higher

** YTD, NIFTYMET rises ~20% vs Nifty 50's .NSEI ~6% rise
