** Cochin Shipyard COCH.NS, HAL HIAE.NS, Bharat Dynamics BARA.NS, Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders MAZG.NS, Garden Reach Shipbuilders GRSE.NS up 2%-5%

** Broader stock benchmarks pare early gains, rupee drops and bond yields slide; traders cite jitters related to India-Pakistan tensions

** Pakistan army carried out "unprovoked" small arms firing, Indian army said in an official statement, adding Indian army responded in "measured and effective manner"

** NIFTYINDDEFENCE last up 3%
