India's Hindustan Aeronautics posts strong quarterly results on project execution, deliveries Aug 12 (Reuters) - India's Hindustan Aeronautics HIAE.NS reported a nearly 15% rise in first-quarter profit on Wednesday, buoyed by robust execution of defence orders and steady progress on project deliveries.
Here are some details:
The state-run aerospace and defence company reported June-quarter net profit of 15.90 billion rupees ($166.66 million), from 13.84 billion rupees a year earlier.
Quarterly revenue from operations rose 14.4% to 55.15 billion rupees from a year ago; total expenses increased 15.3% to nearly 43 billion rupees.
Shares of the company jumped as much as 3% after the results, before trimming some gains to trade 1.2% higher.
Geopolitical tensions and the race to replenish depleted arsenals across Europe, Asia and the Middle East have set off a multiyear global surge in demand for missiles, aircraft, anti-drone systems, ammunition, rockets and high-energy materials, industry experts say.
Antique Stock Broking analysts forecast defence project approvals worth 6.7 trillion rupees in 2026, a sign of the sector's strong growth trajectory in the years ahead.
Hindustan Aeronautics designs, manufactures and services military aircraft, helicopters, engines, avionics and unmanned aerial vehicles, with the Tejas light combat aircraft among its flagship products.
That flagship programme, however, has faced repeated delays over the years, largely due to supply-chain disruptions that have slowed shipments of engines from its U.S. partner, General Electric.
The company's stock is up about 14% so far this year.
