** Indian defence stocks rise amid tensions at India-Pakistan border

** India says it had responded to 'unprovoked' small arms firing from Pakistan along the de facto border for the fourth consecutive night, as it deepens its search for militants in the region following last week's deadly attack on tourists in Kashmir

** Separately, India signs deal with France for 26 Rafale fighter aircraft worth 630 billion rupees ($7.41 billion) for its navy

** Defence equipment maker Paras Defence PRAF.NS leads gains with 9.7% climb; Hindustan Aeronautics HIAE.NS, Bharat Dynamics BARA.NS and Zen Technologies ZETE.NS up 5.3%, 5.1% and 3%, respectively

** Industry goods makers Larsen and Toubro LART.NS, Siemens SIEM.NS, which also make some defence equipment, climb 1.6% and 3% respectively

** Gains drive Nifty defence index .NIFTYINDDEFENCE 4% higher; index was down 0.25% before border clashes started
