Greece, Egypt agree to explore linking their telecom networks

ATHENS, Feb 9 (Reuters) - Grid Telecom, the telecoms arm of
Greece's power grid operator IPTO  ADMr.AT , and Telecom Egypt
 ETEL.CA  agreed on Wednesday to look into connecting the
telecommunications networks of Greece and Egypt via undersea
cables, the two companies said.
    Grid Telecom and Telecom Egypt signed a memorandum of
understanding in Athens which lays the foundation to tap into
the ultramodern networks of Telecom Egypt and Grid Telecom
through their existing and future optic fibre links to
neighbouring countries, they said in a statement.
