** Benchmark copper CMCU3 on the London Metal Exchange down 0.9% at $12,925 per metric ton

** Prices fall tracking losses in the precious metals complex, as rising inventories and a stronger U.S. dollar weighed on prices MET/

** Global mining giants Rio Tinto RIO.N and BHP Group BHP.N down 2.6% and ~3%, respectively

** Southern Copper SCCO.N drops 2.2%; Freeport-McMoRan FCX.N falls 1.5%

** Canada's Teck Resources TECKb.TO down marginally, Hudbay Minerals HBM.TO and Ero Copper ERO.TO  both fall 5%
