** U.S.-listed shares of copper miners rise premarket, tracking higher prices of the red metal

** Benchmark copper CMCU3 on the London Metal Exchange up 2.7% at $12,811 a metric ton

** Copper prices surge towards record highs as concerns about supplies intensified following a strike at a Chilean mine, forecasts for deficits and low stocks in London Metal Exchange approved warehouses MET/

** Global mining giants Rio Tinto RIO.N up ~1% and BHP Group BHP.N up marginally

** Southern Copper SCCO.N and Freeport-McMoRan FCX.N both up 2.5%

** Canada's Hudbay Minerals HBM.TO, HBM.N, Teck Resources TECKb.TO, TECK.N and Ero Copper ERO.TO, ERO.N all up 2%
