Diplomatic efforts to end the war in Ukraine were stepping
up on Monday, with Ukrainian and Russian negotiators set to talk
again after both sides cited progress, even after Russia
attacked a base near the Polish border and fighting raged

On Saturday, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and French
President Emmanuel Macron called for an immediate ceasefire in

Germany will take in 2,500 refugees who have fled to Moldova
from Ukraine, as eastern Europe's efforts to aid refugees come

Former German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder met Russian
President Vladimir Putin for several hours on Thursday evening
in a bid to end the war in Ukraine, Germany's Bild am Sonntag
