    ** Rental apartment construction dropped sharply in Toronto
in the first half of the year, according to a new government
report that suggests it has become "less and less tenable" for
developers to shoulder rising building costs.
    ** Michele Romanow's startup Clearco has raised fresh
financing – including from Romanow herself – and hired a new
chief financial officer as the e-commerce financier attempts to
bounce back from a string of recent setbacks.

    ** Google said it has “serious” concerns with the Liberal
government's online news bill that would require both Google and
Facebook to share revenue with Canadian news outlets at the
House of Commons heritage committee on Tuesday.
    ** Toronto-based miner Iamgold Corp's  IMG.TO ,  IAG.N 
shares rose to their highest in a month after it decided to sell
a 95% stake in Rosebel Gold Mines' unit in Suriname to China's
Zijin Mining Group Co Ltd  601899.SS ,  2899.HK  for $360
million.
