MADRID, April 17 (Reuters) - Spain's antitrust and energy watchdog said on Friday it is probing utilties Iberdrola IBE.MC, Naturgy NTGY.MC and Endesa ELE.MC, as well as energy company Repsol REP.MC and grid operator Red Electrica REDE.MC over last year's unprecedented blackout in Spain and Portugal.
The disclosure came after market closing. The National Commission on Markets and Competition, or CNMC, had said earlier on Friday that it had opened formal probes into the massive outage after finding evidence that some power sector rules were breached over extended periods.
However, the CNMC did not name any company at the time.
